Yuri Cowan is Professor of English Literature in the Department of Language and Literature at NTNU. He specialises in book history and print culture, and has published articles on ballad publication in the nineteenth century; on sporting periodicals in the same period; and on the relationship of material bibliography to the digital archive, among other topics. He is also a founding editor of the online, open-access, peer-reviewed journal Authorship and has prepared a digital edition for the William Morris Archive. For Enlightenment News he is particularly interested in the ways in which early news reporting reveals the history of everyday life in the period. He therefore also examines kinds of news publications that stretch our definition of newspapers as we now know them: periodicals, pamphlets, journalistic ballads, broadsheets, and ephemera.
